Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. is implementing three energy saving programs in the state of North Dakota. These programs are designed to promote the conservation of electricity and are available to Montana-Dakota’s residential electric customers in the state of North Dakota beginning on or after January 1, 2009. The following outlines the details of the programs:

ENERGY STAR® rated Residential Central Air Conditioning: Montana-Dakota residential electric customers who are replacing a standard efficiency (10 SEER or less) electric central air conditioner with an ENERGY STAR® rated (15 SEER & 12.5 EER or greater) electric central air conditioner qualify for an incentive payment of $175/ton.

For example, if a Montana-Dakota residential electric customer replaces their existing electric central air conditioner with a qualified 3 ton electric central air conditioner the customer will receive an incentive from Montana-Dakota in the amount of $525.00

Although ENERGY STAR® rated central air conditioners are more expensive to purchase up front, the cost difference will be paid back over time through lower energy bills.

ENERGY STAR® rated Refrigerators: Montana-Dakota residential electric customers who purchase ENERGY STAR® refrigerator will qualify for an incentive payment of $10.00 for investing in the energy saving appliance. This program is limited to one refrigerator per residential electric account.

ENERGY STAR® rated Freezers: Montana-Dakota residential electric customers who purchase ENERGY STAR® freezer will qualify for an incentive payment of $10.00 for investing in the energy saving appliance. This program is limited to one freezer per residential electric account.
