Montana-Dakota offers four residential natural gas conservation programs in the state of South Dakota. Financial incentives are available to encourage residential consumers to initiate natural gas conservation measures in their homes and are available to Montana-Dakota’s residential natural gas customers in South Dakota. The following outlines the details of each program:

Montana-Dakota Energy Conservation Programs

Residential Natural Gas Heating Program:

High Efficiency Natural Gas Furnaces*: Montana-Dakota residential natural gas customers who replace an 80% or less annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) furnace with a high efficiency natural gas furnace (92% or greater AFUE) qualify for the following incentives:

Natural Gas Heating:	Incentive
92% + AFUE Natural Gas Furnace	$150
94% + AFUE Natural Gas Furnace	$300

* This program is also available to customers who convert their heating system to natural gas from Montana-Dakota.

Programmable Thermostats: Montana-Dakota residential natural gas customers who purchase and install a programmable thermostat, meeting the following criteria, qualify for an incentive payment of $20.

• The programmable thermostat must have at least 4 programmable time periods per day (i.e. wake, leave, return and sleep).
• The programmable thermostat must also allow a separate program schedule for the work week vs. the weekend (i.e. 5-1-1 or 5-2 day programmable).

Residential Natural Gas Water Heating Program:

ENERGY STAR® rated Water Heaters*: Montana-Dakota residential natural gas customers who replace their existing water heater (.59 EF rating or less) with an ENERGY STAR® rated natural gas water heater (.62 EF rating or greater) qualify for an incentive payment of $50.00.

*This program is also available to customers who convert their water heating system to natural gas from Montana-Dakota.

Residential Attic Insulation Program:

Montana-Dakota residential natural gas customers who are enhancing their existing home with additional attic insulation qualify for incentives based on the table below.  The incentives are based on the beginning R-value of the home's attic insulation (the beginning R-value cannot exceed R25) and the ending R-value must be R49.

Residential New Construction Program:

Montana-Dakota is offering a bundled incentive for new homes that will be using natural gas from Montana-Dakota for heating.  This program consists of a heating equipment bundle and an insulation bundle.  To qualify for the heating equipment bundle, the new home must have a 94% or greater AFUE natural gas furnace and a .62 or greater EF natural gas water heater.  To qualify for the insulation bundle, the new home must have wall insulation with a R-21 value and attic insulation with a R-49 value.

Commercial Natural Gas Heating Program:

Rebate Payments:

Rebate payments will be issued in the form of a U.S. Bank®  Rebate Visa® Card, for residential customers receiving rebates of $1,000 or less.  Commercial rebates and residential rebates with payments of more than $1,000 will be issued in the form of a check.  Montana-Dakota does not issue rebates in the form of a utility bill credit.
