Transmission Line Replacement Project
Transmission Line Replacement Project | Missouri River/Misty Waters Marina
Approximate Start Date: August 01, 2022
Montana-Dakota Utilities is kicking off a high-voltage transmission line replacement project on Aug. 1. Weather pending, the project is expected to conclude by the end of October.
The project entails replacing four large steel structures and the associated conductor cables that span the Missouri River, starting near the Heskett power plant site on the west side of the river and extending east into the Misty Waters Marina parking lot and ending on the east side of Burnt Creek Loop.
Montana-Dakota Utilities and its contractor on the project, Michels Power, will do its best to limit disruptions at the marina, the adjacent public Kniefel Boat Ramp and the Misty Waters housing development.
The project involves several moving parts, and public safety will stand above everything else.
The biggest impact for boaters and access to the Missouri River is scheduled for Aug. 22-25. Over that four-day stretch, the marina, public boat ramp, and access to the river will be closed. The large conductor cables will be taken down over that time. The dates are dependent on the weather and updates will be provided on this web page throughout the project.
