When severe weather causes an outage, all available crews are dispatched to restore service as long as it is safe to do so. Updates are provided on our Facebook and Twitter pages as more information becomes available.

Planned Outages

Power outage planned for Richardton on Thursday, October 19th
Montana-Dakota Utility customers in Richardton will experience a planned power outage from approximately 12:00 a.m. until 5 a.m. on Thursday, October 19th, weather permitting. This outage is required to install new equipment at the Richardton Substation. Montana-Dakota recommends that customers take time to prepare for this outage by backing up or shutting down computers and other electronic equipment.

Power outage planned for Elgin on Friday, October 20th 
Montana-Dakota Utility customers in Elgin will experience a planned power outage from approximately 12:01 a.m. until 6 a.m. on Friday October 20th, weather permitting. The estimated six-hour outage is required to perform some maintenance on the Transmission Line that serves your area. Montana-Dakota recommends that customers take time to prepare for this outage by backing up or shutting down computers and other electronic equipment.

Power outage planned for Sterling on Friday, October 27th
Montana-Dakota Utility customers in the Sterling area will experience a planned power outage, weather permitting, on October 27th from approximately 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. The estimated six-hour outage is required to perform maintenance on the electric substation serving the Sterling area. Montana-Dakota recommends that customers take time to prepare for this outage by backing up or shutting down computers and other electronic equipment.

Power outage planned for Dawson, Lake Isabelle & Tappen Tuesday, October 31st
Montana-Dakota Utility customers in the Dawson, Lake Isabelle & Tappen areas will experience a planned power outage, weather permitting, on October 31st from 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. The estimated 6 hour outage is necessary to perform maintenance on the electric transmission line and substation in that area. Montana-Dakota recommends that customers take time to prepare for this outage by backing up or shutting down computers and other electronic equipment.

Useful Electrical and Gas Service Outage Information

Montana-Dakota provides electric and gas services to communities throughout the region and occasionally service interruptions occur.  Service interruptions are either scheduled or unscheduled occurrences that affect the availability of gas or electric resources to our customers.  If you experience a gas or electrical service emergency please contact Montana-Dakota by phone, 24 hours a day by calling 1-800-638-3278.
