Upgrades to High-voltage Transmission Line
Beginning Monday, Jan. 25, work on upgrades to a high-voltage transmission line in Bismarck will start. The power line is owned by Montana-Dakota Utilities. The work will stretch from the eastern bank of the Missouri River near Misty Waters Marina to a substation on the east side of Bismarck, along Bismarck Expressway and north of Main Street.
Work also will be conducted on the transmission line from the Bismarck substation to a substation near Napoleon, North Dakota.
Two contractors – Rocky Mountain Contractors and High Country Line Construction – will handle the work, which is expected to run until approximately March 19, weather pending. Montana-Dakota is upgrading the power line as part of a larger regional project to improve the transmission system in central and eastern North Dakota.
The contractors will have pick-up trucks, line trucks and other construction equipment on site to complete the work. There will be periods of flagging and/or traffic control when work occurs over highways and major city streets.
Information about Bismarck public streets and roadways impacted by the project will be posted on the City of Bismarck website on the Bismarck Streets page.
