State and federal regulatory agencies having jurisdiction over Montana-Dakota Utilities’ system require us to provide safe and reliable service. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), having authority over the entire interconnected electric grid and all wholesale transactions, has established the NERC operating guidelines as the guiding standards and practices for all jurisdictional utilities. Montana-Dakota complies with the existing manuals, standards and guidelines of the NERC, Midwest ISO, Applicable Reliability Council, or any successor agency assuming or charged with similar responsibilities related to the operation and reliability of the North American electric interconnected transmission grid.
